Welcome to the second week of Thursdays Drop! This weeks Thursdays Drop is based on a theme “Running in the Grass”, as I ended up doing a lot of gardening with family over the weekend, releasing out what needed to be cleared and reviving what needed to be revived. Was so invigorating and inspiring! I had music playing and one of the songs caught my attention, which was Cut Copy and their song Running in the Grass, and thought it was so apt.
I wanted to challenge myself this week, and so picked our Smoked DK base to start with as it’s a naturally dark coloured yarn. So what’s the challenge with that, I hear you ask? Well, because of it’s natural grey colouring, it makes it pretty difficult to dye paler colours. Often I dye really saturated colours on this base, as it’s rich lustre fibre content gives it a gorgeous sheen. But… I wanted to try lighter colours on it, sky blues, garden greens, golden sunshine…. Let me know what you think?? Fibre content for Smoked DK is – 70% Natural Light Grey Baby Alpaca, 20% Silk, 10% Cashmere AND is 225m per 100g.
I also love a good 50g skein, something gorgeously cute about them. I’m pretty fond of Bluefaced Leicester fibre and so dyed a whole bunch of BFL in pretty vintage tones – honestly they’re so sweet! Our 50g BFL Sock is 100% Bluefaced Leicester and 200m. This base is beautifully soft and light, with that hint of sheepy smell when you give your skein a good sniff (oh wait, please tell me I’m not the only one that sniffs yarn haha!)
Hope you enjoy this weeks colours!
