Thursdays Drop, a new weekly exploration of yarn and colour, dyed by me!
Part of owning a business means I can get super bogged down in admin work, logistics, accounts… to me, the boring but very necessary aspects of running a small company. As you can imagine, it can stifle creative energy. So, I’ve decided to dedicate a certain day to my dye pots and allow myself to work solely on dyeing. Not only that! But I’m allowing myself to feel into my creative zones and just go with what I’m feeling, maybe I’m drawn to a particular yarn this week, or I saw a movie the following week, or I’ve been dreaming of playing with new colours, or for this week: dreaming of pretty summer tonals!
This week I leaned into colour that brought me pure happiness – summery tonals with a hint of depth. I chose Fadó Singles, Lúnasa DK and Cloudy as my bases this week, really lovely for summer. Fadó Singles is a linen/merino blend, light and airy but with a hint of rustic, Lúnasa DK is so light too surprisingly so for a DK weight but it will knit up quickly while leaving lots of air in the stitches, keeping you cool in a summer tee. Cloudy is our alpaca/silk lace weight yarn, hold it as a fingering weight for a bigger gauge or go wild and knit it even as a DK, and let the yarn keep you cool and baby soft to touch.
I’m calling these Thursdays Drop, as that’s when I’ll be popping them up on the website. I’m kinda really excited about this, gives me a lot of freedom and I’m hoping you’ll enjoy my weekly musings on colours and yarns!
